GM Diet - With Chicken

GM Diet Program: The General Motors Diet targets a weight loss of 7-10 lbs in seven days. It also helps in flushing and cleaning out toxins.

The General Motors Weight Loss Diet was developed for the employees of the firm. However, the diet proved so useful that the world cannot stop listing its benefits. Along with being a perfect recipe for a fast weight loss, it also helps detoxify and cleanse the system.

According to the diet, you must completely abstain from drinking alcohol. You should ideally take 10-15 glasses of water everyday as it helps flush out the toxins from your body. You can consume the following beverages – water flavored with lemon, club soda, black coffee – no cream, no substitutes and no sugar.

Important: No fruit juices before Day Seven.

Day One: Eat as many fruits as you want. No bananas though. If watermelon or cantaloupe is available, take huge quantities of it. Watermelon will enable you to lose 3-4 lbs on the first day. Day One would prepare the system for the week to come.

Day Two: Eat all vegetables – raw or cooked – of your choice in any quantity. A cooked vegetable does not mean vegetables made in curry or with spices. You can make food palatable by adding a dollop of butter or some salad dressing to it. This is taken for energy and balance. You can start the day by eating a baked potato but the rest of the vegetables consumed during the day should be calorie free and rich in nutrition and fiber. You can also try sautéed vegetables. Boil the vegetables of your choice, once they are boiled drain the water out of them, lightly sauté them in a teaspoon of butter, add a little salt and you are done.

Day Three: A mixture of fruits and vegetables – all the salad that you can eat day! No bananas and no potatoes. Day Three prepares the system to start burning excess pounds.

Day Four: Eat up to 8 bananas and drink 3 glasses of milk. Day Four makes up for the lost potassium and sodium.

Day Five: Take small portions of lean meat or cottage cheese with 6 whole tomatoes. You can make a sandwich out of it. Increase your water intake by 1/4th. The meat / cheese are for iron and proteins and the tomatoes are for digestion and fiber. The excess water purifies the system.

Day Six: Eat unlimited amounts of lean meat (fish / chicken) or cottage cheese and vegetables.

Day Seven: Eat brown rice, fruit juices and all the vegetables you can possibly stuff! On this day, you will feel 7-10 lbs lighter from all the rinsing and flushing. Do not use white rice – use pulses for a protein substitute.

If this diet works for you, please follow it only once a month and not more than that. Eat enough when on this diet to avoid fatigue, tiredness and emotional distress. Do not curb your hunger!

Trek Polaamaa - March 6th

Alright. Enough teasing during this last week. Let's end the suffering. Time to raise the curtain on "What's gonna happen on March 6?". We are CTC and whatever we do, we do it in CTC style - different, unique, with passion and always pushing the limits. Expect no less this time.
CTC turns 2 on February 22th - the same day the blog was put online and anyone could join the group two years ago. In its short existence it has created waves and made history. CTC has become a well known and respected name in the outdoor community. We converted conservative and relaxed Chennai into a large, active trekking group of close to 6000 passionate members who go out exploring non-stop every weekend. We all know CTC is not the usual group - we are run by selfless volunteers, we share tasks and expenses, we explore the unexplored, everyone is welcome to join us, we create our own trails, we have discovered some of the most beautiful natural locations, we spread environmental awareness, we care for the less privileged in our society, we love to learn and educate (workshops) and there is probably no better place to experience true team work, overcome challenges together and make many like-minded friends. Can't think of any other place where one can experience all of this... For many of us, CTC has changed our lives. And believe me, this is only the beginning...

As CTC enters its third year, we want to celebrate this significant milestone. We are planning two unique events for this - on Feb 20-21 the maximum number (430 and counting!) of trekkers will be going out to explore several beautiful locations across South India - the largest ever trekking event in one single weekend. The second event on March 6 will create waves again, this time in our own home town Chennai. We thought it is highly time for all our members to meet up and celebrate together in one place. And while we do so, why not - at the same time - make it the largest trekking event/exhibit South India has ever seen? We are planning state of the art presentations on CTC, its past accomplishments and future vision, interesting workshops and demos on various related topics, a professional photo exhibition showcasing the most beautiful moments captured by the best talent in CTC, cultural events and of course a yummy buffet (sorry, no Maggie noodles this time ;-)!

We have rented a big hall in the center of the city and expect thousands of visitors to attend. We are planning to transform the venue into a beautiful forest-like decor to surprise and expose the general public to what we experience every weekend. An event of such huge proportions calls for eminent people to befit the occasion - no one less then the Mayor of Chennai and the Union Minister of State will be presiding over the event. Expect extensive media coverage and large visibility in our local community. Our aim is to increase awareness of trekking with the general public, a healthier and more adventurous lifestyle, bring people closer to nature to build more environmental awareness and get more people infected by the unique CTC spirit!

Organizing an event of this immense scope will require significant resources and efforts and we will need all the help we can get from you to make this a success. If we pull this off then Chennai will remember the name of CTC for a long, long time to come. More info on how you can contribute will follow soon... Below an initial draft of our agenda -

Run Classic DOS Games on any Computer

dos gamesIf your computer is running a fairly new operating systems, such as Windows XP, Vista or even Mac OS X, chances are that it won’t be able to play any of the old DOS games that were originally designed for 16-bit systems.

There are however simple workarounds that will help you play your favorite DOS games on any modern computer just the way they worked on old 486 machines of the 90’s. The other good part is that you can download most popular DOS games from the web for free and legally.

Play Old DOS Games on your Computer

The easiest way to run DOS games on your computer is through DOSBox.

aladdin - DOS games mario bros in DOS

DOSBox, in simple English, is a free program that emulates an X86 based DOS environment on your new computer including speaker sounds, video graphics and other hardware. DOSBox is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X so you can practically use it to run DOS games on practically every computer.

You can simply install DOSBox via the command line but if that sounds too technical, there are graphical frontends for DOSBox that will let you run DOS programs through a simple GUI.

One of the most popular GUI frontends for DOSBox is D-Fend Reloaded. You can install this program like any other Windows application and it is ready for use immediately after the installation. To install a DOS game, simply use the import wizard or drag-and-drop the zip archive file (that contains the DOS program) into the D-Fend Reloaded window.

D-Fend Reloaded also offers game packages, containing both freeware and shareware DOS games, that you may install on your computer at once using a simple installer. You can play these classic games using DOSBox without having to configure anything.

Build an MS-DOS Virtual Machine for Playing Games

Doom DOS Game If the requirements are such that DOSBox emulators are unable to run your favorite DOS game, you can try running DOS inside a virtual machine using virtualization software like Windows Virtual PC, VMWare Player, or VirtualBox from Sun – they are all free solutions.

Microsoft offers a free copy of MS-DOS operating system that you may convert into a virtual machine or you can download the FreeDOS program from the Internet which is just like MS-DOS and completely free.

Once you have a virtual machine running DOS, you need a way to install DOS programs into the virtual machine. This can be done by burning a CD image of the DOS games and then attaching that CD image to the virtual machine.

Play DOS Games Online in the Browser

The installers for DOS games were initially distributed on floppy disks and the game authors may have never envisioned that people would be playing these games though the Internet without installation but that is exactly what you can do today.

JPC is a Java-based x86 emulator that can run some DOS programs on any modern browser with the Java plugin. The JPC site hosts a couple of popular DOS games including DOOM and Mario Brothers but for a more extensive collection, you should check out Classic DOS Games. The sites currently has 169 different games that you can play directly in any web browser that has the Java plugin installed.

JPC based DOS games may not run as fast as their DOSBox counterparts but there’s one advantage – you can try a game online before deciding if you want to download a copy to your hard drive.

Download DOS Games from the Internet

Now that you have everything in place to run DOS games on the computer, you are most definitely looking for some great games to play with.

Here are some popular sites where you can find and download most of your favorite DOS games, but since too many choices can be confusing, check this search engine that will help you search all the popular PC games’ websites from one place.

1. DOS Games – With over 500 classic titles, DOSGames.com is a great place to look for your favorite DOS games. You can run these games using the free DOSBox emulator discussed above. The site is actively updated so it is likely that more games will be added over time.

2. DOS Games Archive – DOS Games Archive is another useful site with a very large collection of DOS games. The sites provides screenshots of the DOS games, user ratings, violence ratings, cheat codes and you can also find out if a particular game is supported on DOSBox. Many of the games listed on the site were commercial games that were later released for free by the game publisher.

3. D-Fend Game Packages – If you chose to install D-Fend Reloaded with DOSBox, then you can easily access hundreds of classic DOS games using this easy installer. Each game package contains a collection of about a dozen or so games of the same category and you can have them all on your machine with a click.

4. Classic DOS Games – This site also contains a wide range of DOS games categorized by their Genre, Company, Year Released, etc. All DOS games listed on this site are freely distributable because they are shareware, freeware, or because the copyright holder has officially and legally released all rights to the public domain.

5. Good Old Games – This site specializes at re-releasing classic commercial games for modern PCs at reasonable prices. Their selection includes many popular DOS-based games that are packaged with DOSBox for a seamless game experience on Windows Vista and XP. If your looking for a commercial game that has not been released as freeware, this may be the best place to look for it.

6. Abandonia – As the title suggests, this site has a very collection of games that are under the category of “abandonware” or titles that are no longer sold /developed by the authors.

7. Home of the Underdogs – One of the most popular abandonware sites with reviews of over 5,300 games for DOS and Windows. Other than game binaries, the sites also offers manuals for a number of games that are no longer commercially available.

For offline reference, you may download this catalog of DOS games from Wikipedia that possibly includes every DOS title that has been released till date.

Go, Google's Programming Language

After so many years of C language finally google has dared to introduce new language... Interesting??? then read on........................

"Some smart Google engineers decided that it's time to address the limitations of C and C++ by designing a new programming language: Go.

Go was born out of frustration with existing languages and environments for systems programming. Programming had become too difficult and the choice of languages was partly to blame. One had to choose either efficient compilation, efficient execution, or ease of programming; all three were not available in the same mainstream language. Programmers who could were choosing ease over safety and efficiency by moving to dynamically typed languages such as Python and JavaScript rather than C++ or, to a lesser extent, Java.

Go is an attempt to combine the ease of programming of an interpreted, dynamically typed language with the efficiency and safety of a statically typed, compiled language. It also aims to be modern, with support for networked and multicore computing. Finally, it is intended to be fast: it should take at most a few seconds to build a large executable on a single computer. To meet these goals required addressing a number of linguistic issues: an expressive but lightweight type system; concurrency and garbage collection; rigid dependency specification; and so on. These cannot be addressed well by libraries or tools; a new language was called for. [Language design FAQ]

Here's a Go program that outputs 'Hello, World!':

Google enhances latitude to show your previous locations

Google latitude is one of the feature which shows your current location from where you are accessing the internet.

1. Google is enhancing its latitude feature to show the history of your previous locations. For this you need to enable your history in the Google latitude page. It may not be useful for you but it will be very useful for your secret followers (your wife!!!! be careful).
2. Second feature of this Google latitude is location alerts on your mobile which is still in beta stage.
3. We can also enable location badge at location badge
4. Important and friendly feature to tell your current location to your friends is updating your location on GTALK. You can enable this feature here.

Here is the general introduction video of the Google latitude

Want to increase google storage??

Running out of memory in google?? Now you can get additional storage very cheap. Read on...........

Google says that the storage is shared between Gmail and Picasa Web Albums, but it's obvious that the additional storage will mostly be used in Google Docs, when the service morphs into Google Drive.

'While storage costs have been dropping naturally, we've also been working hard to improve our infrastructure to reduce costs even further. Today, we're dramatically lowering our prices to make extra storage more affordable. You can now buy 20 GB for only $5 a year, twice as much storage for a quarter of the old price, and enough space for more than 10,000 full resolution pictures taken with a five megapixel camera,' explains Google.

If you've already purchased Google storage, there's a good news: 'Your total storage will be increased according to this page at no extra cost. For example, if you had previously purchased 10 GB of Google storage, you now have 80 GB available.'

I wonder how much free storage Google Drive will offer when it's released.

Monday is ‘the most popular sick day’

Monday is the most popular day for workers calling in sick, a new UK research has confirmed. The study, by consultant firm Mercer, found that more than a third of all sick leave is taken on the first day of the week. What’s more, the highest rate of absence by far occurs in January, the study added. And the most common reason for absence was musculo-skeletal problems. Following them were viral infections and stress-related illness, reports The BBC. The findings are based on an analysis of sickness management records for 11,000 employees from a range of private sector organizations. The study found that 13 of the 20 most popular days for sickness absence occurred in January - six of these between 2 and 9 January. On Thursday 3 and Friday 4 January nearly 5 percent of the total employee population was absent on sick leave. The study found that 35percent of all sick leave is taken on a Monday. However, the lowest sick leave rate was recorded on Fridays at just 3 percent of the total.

Researcher Phiroze Bilimoria said: "Monday sickness and frequent short-term absences can be a symptom of low employee engagement and morale within certain teams or departments." Professor Cary Cooper, an occupational health psychologist at the University of Lancaster, said: "People are doing more work under more demanding conditions so are under more stress and need more rest and recuperation. "Some employees may feel the weekend is not enough so they take the extra day. But I suspect what is happening is people are lying about their reason for sickness absence. "It is more believable to use back pain as a reason as often stress is seen as a four letter word. It’’s seen as embarrassing.” (ANI)
